Late Model Action Aplenty!

It may only be a three-day turnaround, but the Late Models are sure to bring the action once again on Sunday night as they contest the eighth round of the Pro Dirt Series thanks to the team at ABN Trade Mates!

A solid twenty-four nominations have been received for the event at the Perth Motorplex with the bulk of the competitors the same as last night’s Boxing Day show, with a few pleasing additions!

Warren Oldfield(Oldfield Racing) was all class, claiming his second Motorplex win on the trot Boxing Night and he would love to make that three in a row as he continues to claw his way back up the Pro Dirt standings.

Joe Chalmers (Team BCM Motorsport:) has been doing the same in recent weeks and a fine second place last night certainly won’t do that any harm as he continues to chase down Jamie Oldfield (Oldfield Racing). Jamie came third at that same show so the point gap has only changed slightly, and both Joe and Jamie will be fighting hard to get back on the top step of the podium.

Luke Halliday (Halliday Racing) has been on the cusp of some big results, running consistently at the front of the field and recording four top five finishes, though as yet, unable to grab that elusive win or even a podium finish. He qualified on the front row of the main event last time out, can he convert that into even better results Saturday night?

Rod Musarra (Team Rocket) finally got some solid laps under his belt at the last show, looking competitive every time he hit the track and coming home with a great top five position. Musarra has won feature races at the Motorplex before in a number of divisions including Late Models, so if he can recreate that form he would well claim another win come feature time.

Ken Macpherson (KMM - Ken Macpherson Motorsport) returned to action on Boxing Night after what looked to have been a season ending engine detonation at the opener. He returned with a vengeance, consistently quick and hounding the drivers ahead of him for every position. With a few more laps under his belt and some luck, he too could be troubling the front runners by the end of the night.

Veronica McCann (Veronica McCann - Red Hot Racing) is another one who returned to the track on Boxing Night she too looked incredibly quick. A huge run through the field in her opening heat set her up in a solid starting position, but an unfortunate incident in the feature saw her drop back slightly, which is something she will be looking to rectify this time out.

Brad Smith (Brad Smith Devil Motorsports 6T), Freddy Kinsella (Team Green Racing) and Jay Cardy (Cardy Racing Components) rounded out the top ten finishers on Boxing Night, all fighting hard and seeing their positions move up and down throughout the feature. All three have shown they have plenty of speed, so it is only a matter of time and luck before they find themselves back right at the pointy end.

We welcome back a number of Pro Dirt Series regulars on Saturday night, with Brent Vosbergen (Team Vosbergen Racing - TVR) back in the field, while Michael Holmes (Michael Holmes Racing) makes his first appearance this season aboard his familiar #91 machine. Shaun Cubbage is back after previously being seen in his home town of Kalgoorlie’s round while the final addition is Victorian Brendan Hucker (Hucker Racing), making his way back to the West after the festive period to gain some more valuable laps at the Motorplex ahead of the big events in a couple of months time.

All these stars and more will be on track this Saturday night fighting it out and with plenty on the line, you won’t want to miss a minute!
