Late Model Racing Western Australia
Intensity Increase!
The last two weekends have been big shows for the Late Models and this Saturday night will certainly be no different as the intensity turns up a notch!
In what will be the third round of the Pro Dirt Series (proudly presented by Maddington Toyota and CanningVale Toyota) in as many weeks, drivers will be fighting hard to bank valuable season points as they race for the win in the Westernapolis event.
Last season it was Jason Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) who claimed this win and after grabbing a podium finish in the opening event for the new season and then sitting on the sidelines for round two, he will be hyped up and ready to go back-to-back.
Brother Jamie Oldfield comes into the show as the last start winner after last Saturday’s epic victory and he too would love to get two feature wins in a row for the chance to extend his series lead, while the third Oldfield, Warren, will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing show last weekend after engine issues struck and get his series defence back on track.
Freddy Kinsella (Team Green Racing) has been the model of consistency so far, a fifth in the opening round and then a hard charging effort in the last round to come home second. Back aboard his familiar #318, a heap of effort in the gym across the off-season has certainly been paying off and he could well stun some of his more experienced rivals with a career first Pro Dirt Series feature win come main event time on Saturday night.
Rod Musarra (Team Rocket) has been on an upwards trajectory: with an eighth and then a sixth so far, while David Boyes (Boyes Motorsport), Tasmanian visitor Brad Smith (Brad Smith Devil Motorsports 6T), and the impressive Luke Halliday (Halliday Racing) have also recorded two top ten finishes from two starts apiece and are keen to keep building on those results.
Peter Seaton (Peter Seaton Racing) has been consistently finishing races, twelfth in the opener at Ellenbrook, followed by thirteenth last weekend at the Motorplex. With two races so far that have been hammer down, Seato will be hoping for some slightly different track conditions so that he gets the chance to show what he can really do.
Others including Abbey Pickering (All About Racing), Damian Hudson (Hudson Racing Team) and Peter Walker (Team Eighty1 Racing) have also already recorded some good results and this weekend is another chance for them to further improve.
Drivers will again contest two heats apiece prior to the thirty lap final this weekend, with cars on track from 4pm and the first of the Late Model racing scheduled to start from around 6.50pm.
