Late Model Racing Western Australia

March Mayhem Begins!

The buildup has been huge, and this weekend a huge month of Late Model action finally gets underway!

Saturday will see the Late Models heading to the Ellenbrook Speedway for the Michael Holmes Racing March Mayhem event, kicking off a huge month of action that includes the Australian Late Model Championship, the Hump Day Hustle and the Late Model Nationals events.

This weekend is a $5,000 to win show thanks to Michael Holmes Racing, and also marks the last chance hitout for drivers ahead of the upcoming Australian Late Model Championships on March 7 and 8.

A solid twenty-three cars have nominated for this Saturday’s show, including last start winner at Ellenbrook, Warren Oldfield (Oldfield Racing).

Warren won the Ray Tulk Memorial at the venue back in October to open the Pro Dirt Series, and with plenty of speed and a couple more wins since then, he can be confident of another solid finishing.

Crossing the line behind him in that show was brothers Jason and Jamie Oldfield (Oldfield Racing), with both boys also in the field this weekend. Jamie comes in as the last start winner after victory in the WA Title event a couple of weekends ago, while Jason is always on the pace and could well add to the four podium finishes he has already grabbed this season.

Australian Champion Joe Chalmers (Team BCM Motorsport:) will be looking to race his way back into form ahead of next weekend when he puts his title on the line, while other former Australian Champions in the field including Brad Blake, Kodee Brown (McCorry Brown Racing Team) and the returning Kye Blight (Kye Blight Racing) will be keen to stamp their authority on the field as they too look to prepare for another Title win.

Adding some extra spice to the field this weekend is the Australian debut of American visitor Myles Moos (Myles Moos). Driving the Michael Holmes Racing #91, Moos has plenty of experience and shouldn’t take long to adapt to the new car and an unfamiliar track, sure to give the locals plenty to think about.

Jay Cardy (Cardy Racing Components) will be hoping to bounce back after his last visit to Ellenbrook went pear shaped, while others including Tasmanian Brad Smith (Brad Smith Devil Motorsports 6T), Freddy Kinsella (Team Green Racing) and Casey Paech will also be keen to make their mark.

Add in a pile of other names including Rob Wells (CTM Recruitment Racing), back for his second race meeting of the season, Abbey Pickering (@AllAboutRacing) who is continuing to get familiar with her new car after a mid season rollover and Jeff Pahl (Pahly Racing), joining the other regular travelled from Kalgoorlie and Esperance for the first time this season, and we have all we need for what is sure to be a huge show!

Michael Holmes Racing will be at the track, this weekend, their Speedway store on wheels fully stocked with everything racers need including American Racer Tires, Methanol, Tear Offs, Raceceivers and of course Myles Moos Down Under Tour Shirts!

Gates open from 12pm, with racing from 3pm.
