Warren Wins Allan Blake Classic!

Last night at the Bunbury Speedway Warren Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) won his third feature race for the season, but this one was a little more special, the Michael Holmes Racing Allan Blake Classic being named in honour of his father-in-law!

The show, which was also Round Nine of the Pro Dirt Series presented by the team at Heatleys Safety, Industrial & Automotive, attracted twenty cars for the first time to the newly revamped Bunbury Bullring.

Heat wins went the way of Peter Walker (Team Eighty1 Racing) (his first ever Pro Dirt Series heat race win), Rod Musarra (Team Rocket), Michael Holmes (Michael Holmes Racing) and Jamie Oldfieldn(Oldfield Racing), with Musarra doing enough to lock in a pole position start alongside Holmes for the thirty-lap feature event.

Seventeen cars would face the starter with Musarra getting the best of the start while Jamie Oldfield came from the second row to dive underneath Holmes to take second.

Warren Oldfield also dove down low and after starting in position six moved into third by the end of lap one.

Musarra held strong at the front with Jamie, Warren and Holmes in hot pursuit while Beau Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) was next best holding off a pack of cars.
Lapped traffic came into play on lap six, but just as the lead cars found themselves on their tails the yellow lights came on as Damian Hudson (Hudson Racing Team) found himself in the wall.

The field would line up again minus Hudson, with six laps completed. Musarra got a solid start while Warren Oldfield, who started on the outside of Jamie, pushed past and was able to not only get by Jamie, but then line up and pass Musarra to take the lead.

Behind him Beau Oldfield did similar, getting by Jamie and then Musarra, with Jamie also getting past Musarra, the top three now Warren, Beau and Jamie.
With ten down and twenty to go the top three had pulled away slights, and Jamie capitalised on Beau going high to dive under and take second momentarily before Beau fought back. The very next lap in the very same spot the very same thing happened, though this time Jamie held the position, the top three now moving into lapped traffic.

Just after the halfway point the yellows were on again, this time for Jay Bassanelli (Bassanelli Motorsport ) who slowed to a stop on the back straight and would ultimately be unable to rejoin.

After a shambles of an attempt at a restart, the field lined up again and this time they got away cleanly, Warren quickly pulling away from Jamie and Beau, with Musarra next best.

Abbey Pickering (All About Racing) found herself facing the wrong way in turn two to bring out the yellow lights with eleven laps remaining, bunching the field up once again. Unfortunately it wouldn’t last long, a carpark forming in turn number two that saw one car eliminated from the race, then the next attempt saw another pile of cars together in turn three, leaving three more cars eliminated from the race.

Warren again got away on the restart and recorded the quickest lap of the race while Jamie was clean in second while Beau was third with Musarra doing all he could to hold off Luke Halliday (Halliday Racing) who had charged into fifth, just ahead of Holmes and Joe Chalmers (Team BCM Motorsport:).

Halliday and Holmes got past Musarra over the next few laps while up front Jamie was driving his hardest to close the gap on Warren in the final five laps. Even as the lead duo approached more lapped traffic Warren maintained his composure, going on to defeat Jamie with Beau holding on for third in another all Oldfield trifecta.

Teams now have a break until the next round of the Pro Dirt Series, back at the Motorplex in February as part of the Krikke Boys Shootout, proudly presented by Ross’s Auctioneers.
