A Different Type of Oldfield Trifecta!

History was made once again tonight at the Perth Motorplex with another Oldfield trifecta etched into the record books, but this time with a new twist: Beau Oldfield completing the family sweep alongside his uncles, race winner Jamie Oldfield and second-placed Warren Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) in Round Six of the Pro Dirt Series presented by McPhee Freight.

All three Oldfields also claimed heat race victories earlier in the night, joined by Rod Musarra (Team Rocket), with the quartet forming the front of the grid for the 30-lap main event.

Warren Oldfield was quick to strike at the start, jumping into the lead as Beau Oldfield hugged the low line to move into second ahead of Jamie Oldfield, who settled into third running the high groove. Musarra followed closely behind in fourth, while Joe Chalmers (Team BCM Motorsport:) found himself under pressure from a tightly packed field in fifth.

Jamie soon found momentum on the top side and swept past Beau to claim second, immediately setting his sights on Warren at the front. By lap five, Jamie drew alongside Warren exiting turn two and powered down the back straight to take control of the race.

Moments later, the yellow lights were displayed for debris on the main straight, bringing the field back together for a restart.

The restart saw Jamie, Warren, and Beau maintain their positions, while behind them Joe Chalmers advanced to fourth before Jay Cardy (Cardy Racing Components) charged forward to snatch the position. Chalmers dropped to fifth as Michael Holmes (Michael Holmes Racing), David Nylander (Nylander Motorsport), and Brent Vosbergen (Team Vosbergen Racing - TVR) all worked their way past Musarra.

By lap ten, Jamie Oldfield had opened up a commanding lead, with Warren isolated in second and Beau continuing a strong run in third. Cardy and Chalmers gave chase but were unable to significantly reduce the gap.

At the halfway mark, Jamie encountered heavy lapped traffic yet still held a lead of more than four seconds over Warren. Traffic briefly slowed the leader, allowing Warren to close slightly, before he too became entangled in the congestion Jamie had already navigated.

With five laps remaining, Jamie had extended his advantage to over half a lap. Beau had closed in on Warren as traffic began to influence the battle for third, with Cardy looming large and searching for a way through.

With two laps to go, Jamie lapped the sixth-place car as Warren continued unchallenged in second. Beau found himself trapped in heavy traffic, allowing Cardy to close right onto his rear bumper in an increasingly intense fight for the final podium position.

The chequered flag flew for Jamie Oldfield, who crossed the line nearly thirteen seconds clear of Warren. Beau Oldfield held his nerve to secure his first-ever Pro Dirt Series podium finish in third. Jay Cardy and Joe Chalmers completed the top five, the only cars remaining on the lead lap at the finish.

Teams now enjoy a brief New Year’s break before heading south to Albany Speedway on January 3 for Round Seven of the Pro Dirt Series, proudly presented by Albany World of Cars.
