Oldfield wins Battle, Chalmers wins War!

Last night at the Perth Motorplex marked the final round of the 2025/26 Pro Dirt Series presented by ABN Trade Mates, and while it was Warren Oldfield (Oldfield Racing) who claimed his seventh feature race win of the season, Joe Chalmers (Team BCM Motorsport:) eleventh podium finish was enough to lock away the series!

Warren Oldfield would start on the front row for the thirty-lap feature race alongside Luke Halliday (Halliday Racing).

The first attempt at a start saw Jay Cardy (Cardy Racing Components) join Oldfield and Halliday on the front row in what was an awesome first corner, but further back cars banked up, with Jay Bassanelli (Bassanelli Motorsport ) coming to a rest on the front end of Ryan Huxtable (Huxy Racing), with Cody Avins (@AvinsRacing) also involved.

Attempt two was much better, Cardy again applying the pressure on Oldfield as they both got by Halliday, only for Halliday to fight back through turns three and four to take back second.

Unfortunately the race would last only one lap before the yellows were out again for debris, with Veronica McCann (Veronica McCann - Red Hot Racing) losing the driveshaft.

Warren led away the restart, Cardy moved back into second and Beau Oldfield used the lowline to move into third and set out after Cardy.

Halliday continued to sit on the highline and with four complete he raced back by Beau for third, with series points leader Joe Chalmers now right on Beau’s tail.

Chalmers then got by Beau and then a few laps later was able to chase down and get by Halliday for third.

Halliday again fought back, but Chalmers dove down low, slid across the nose of Halliday and kept the position all for himself.
This allowed Beau to get back into the mix, racing past Halliday for fourth, but further up Chalmers was closing the gap on Cardy at a rate of knots.

At the halfway point the three lead cars were well clear of the rest of the field, with only seven cars remaining on the lead lap, and Chalmers was able to get by Cardy and set out after Oldfield.

The gap was down to just under two seconds with ten laps to go, and two laps later Chalmers had the nose underneath Warren and was looking for a way through, but the yellows came on for Mat Robbins (Robbins Motorsport ) who found himself stranded up against the turn four wall.

Oldfield broke away on the restart and was able to get out to a nearly two second lead on lap twenty-three, while Beau Oldfield dove right under Chalmers and stole second momentarily, only for Joe to race back by on the outside.

Cardy got back by Halliday and looked under Beau, but the positions didn’t change, while up front Chalmers was right on Oldfield’s tail, looking for a way through but unable to make anything stick.

In the run to the finish Chalmers threw all he had at Warren, but Oldfield was simply too good, racing away to claim the win ahead of Chalmers while Beau Oldfield claimed third overall.

In the process, Chalmers also did enough to lock away the Perth Motorplex Track championship, defeating Warren Oldfield and Beau Oldfield.

A full season wrap up will be posted in the coming weeks, along with all the details from the LMRWA Awards Night, to be held in June.
